Natural Woods In Your Kitchen

In the modern era there is a natural/organic craze in regards to most foods, skin care products and drinks, but one aspect people tend to often overlook is their environment and their surroundings. Studies have shown that the presence of plants and the utilization of natural woods in regards to your furniture and your cabinetry can improve the mood, the air quality as well as your general well being.  Natural woods don’t just look amazing, they are also amazing for you. Natural woods however come in many varieties and species and so the following guide will go over a sample of the natural woods that Vida uses in building, creating and installing your fully custom luxury cabinets, offices and closets.

Cherry Wood Cabinets

You can recognize cherry wood by some slight red undertones but the color varies from rich browns to even a lighter shade of wood.  They are a smoother kind of wood with even grains that make it efficient to apply different shades and lacquers.  Cherry cabinetry within your custom luxury kitchen will bring an aura of warmth, homeliness and charms.  These woods do darken with age due to their high sensitivity to light but that provides them with additional character and makes them even more appealing to many homeowners.

Oak Wood Cabinets

The range of colors on a classy oak goes from pink to reddish tones.  Oak cabinets often feature some greens, yellows and blacks that highlight the beauty and enamor the eye of the beholder.  Because at Vida every cabinet set is hand crafted, only the finest woods make our cut and this means we carefully vette beautiful Oak woods and only a small percentage make it into our cabinets.  Oaks work great in rustic designs or more traditional kitchens, but with the right cut they can truly bring out a novel look in a modern setting. Oak is considered a premium wood often featured in luxury and fine furniture, and since Vida is the ultimate in luxury cabinetry we do not shy away from this beauty.

Pecan Wood Cabinets

Whilst this wood type certainly sounds delicious it’s not edible, well I guess you could eat it but it would not be very good.. Or nutritious for that matter, but getting back to the wood, the Pecan wood style is unique in that it features a white/blonde/reddish and even dark brown colors on its dramatic patterns. It is one of the stronger woods and due to marks and streaks often in black it pops out and creates a gorgeous aesthetic. Generally in Pecan wood, the grain is straight but the most selective providers such as the ones that Vida utilizes for the highest quality cabinetry and closet solutions come with all types of patterns including wavy, curly and much much more.

Birch Wood Cabinets

These cabinets are often lighter in color but feel stronger and smoother than many other woods.  The wood, before it’s treated for cabinetry builds gives off a nice forest like scent and because of its lighter color, smooth surface texture and wildly great abrasion resistance it is a very popular wood for kitchens that are often bustling and busy year round.  Because of their smoothness and easy patterns they are brilliant to paint on so don’t worry too much if you would prefer Birch but not in a lighter color, essentially most woods can be finished to your liking, especially when you choose a luxury handcrafted cabinetry maker like Vida.

Maple Wood Cabinets

Maple cabinetry is lighter, mostly white to creamy colored with some possible subtones presenting themselves. Maple works fantastically well for those looking for more quiet colored cabinets as they do not have aggressive out there grains embedded in their pattern. This type of wood is very popular as it’s long lasting, creates a calmer aura within the home and because the stains take color of the finish applied, they can come out as an outstanding visual performance.

Walnut Wood Cabinets

When choosing custom cabinets or closet solution for your home or office it’s hard to snooze on the walnut type of wood.  Walnut is easily distinguishable from the other woods as it has a very fine generally straight grain and it ranges in colors from dark chocolate to grayish brown with reddish on the spectrum.  Walnut works well with darker stains and creates a warm but luxurious ambiance in your kitchen especially when expertly cut to your kitchen.  Walnut’s unique feature is that it mellows down and lightens up in intensity over the years creating an even calmer environment in your new kitchen.

Alder Wood Cabinets

Light brown and reddish undertones, straight and even texture this wood choice is great for rustic styled kitchen designs. Adler is truly beautiful with naturally occurring imperfections that can make your kitchen cabinets near me and near you truly stand out.  This wood is also lighter in weight, but because it’s softer it needs to be taken care of well as it is easier to dent and can also mar. We recommend alder woods for those seeking a more rustic, darker kitchen that want a romantic aura of busy cooking life as well as an aroma of hartwood.

Hickory Wood Cabinets

This wood is a fantastic and bold option for those looking to get more out of their custom luxury cabinetry.  Whether you are in LA or New York or even in Florida Keys Hickory works well in various environments because of its mixture of heartwood and sapwood.  With contrasting streaks and a blonde/whitish and sometimes even reddish-brown base this wood is outstanding for many types of kitchen decors.  The most popular style of kitchen design where Hickory wood is used is rustic and rugged as the natural contrast.
